Project In The Spotlight
HATCHERY IN SCHOOLS

In early 2008, we received a grant from the Island Education Foundation to support a “Hatchery in the Schools” program.  This grant has enabled Hatchery Manager Rich Crowley to travel to several area schools with live hatchery stock, and using both the juvenile lobster and slides, introduce students to the hatchery.  The presentation is targeted to elementary and middle school students and explains lobster biology, how the hatchery effort works and why it is important.
