Ted’s work tracking Atlantic cod movement patterns showed there were separate sub-populations of cod in the Gulf of Maine

Ted Ames, Penobscot East vice-chair and hatchery director, has studied spawning, habitat, and fishing patterns of the Atlantic Cod. Ames’ work combines marine science and fishermen’s knowledge to paint a scientifically compelling picture of the complexity of the fish population structure in the Gulf of Maine. It has influenced new strategies for marine management in the region.
