The Penobscot East Resource Center believes fishing communities can help manage their own resources to restore stocks and regain access to diverse fisheries. This is the essence of Community-Based Resource Management.
Penobscot East supports groups who want to manage their own resources, such as the Stonington fishermen who started the Stonington Fisheries Alliance, and the lobstermen who raised funds to build the Zone C Lobster Hatchery. These groups have taken leadership roles in managing and studying the resources on which they depend.
