Through partnerships with like-minded organizations that share our goals, our marketing and economic development efforts are evolving from the various programs designed to fulfill our mission to secure a future for eastern Maine fishing communities. Our aim is to create economic initiatives and develop local markets that will respond to immediate and anticipated community needs. These will:
- Support marine habitat conservation
- Provide fresh top-quality local seafood to local consumers
- Drive economic development in eastern Maine
and we are accomplishing this with a range of activities and novel programs:
- Creating a Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) marketing model for the first time in our geographical area.
- Innovating a community lobster sale program.
- Participating in the Stonington Lobster Working Group.
- Partnering with the Stonington Lobster Coop in the COMMUNITY FISH project.
- Introducing a cutting-edge research project to design a fuel-efficient lobster boat.
